Laura Igoe
About:
Laura started off running marathons. A few years ago she decided to try racing Duathlons. Training "by feel" for her first year she achieved some descent results. After that she decided to shoot higher and called Peter Cummings of Plan2Peak. Upon initial testing it was evident that Laura had talent. She felt, at the time, runnning was her strength. It soon became apparent that was not the case. After only 5 months of training with Coach Peter Cummings, Laura won the Masters National Duathlon Championship. One week later at the request of the coach she tried her first time trial. She set the Local Club's all time women's record on her first attempt. The coach then suggested Masters National Cycling Championship which was only 2 months away and was being held in the Pittsburgh area. After some specific time trial training Laura went down to Seven Springs, PA and set the fastest time of any master women by 54 seconds winning her first USA Cycling National Championship. The following season Duathlon was put on the back burner and cycling became the focus. Since then Laura has upgraded to a Cat 1 has been invited to race in Las Vegas at the USA Crits Series Final, won numerous stage races, placed 9th at USA Cycling's Elite Time Trial championship in 2007 and won 3 more national championships in the Masters Time Trial and Road Race in 2008. Laura has also won the 2008 NYS Cup as the best female rider in NYS and currently is ranked as one of the top 100 Professional female riders in the country. Last season (2008) she won the BBC's Women's Road Race Championship, she still holds the clubs female all-time 20km time trial record and last but far from least is the mother of 3 beautiful children and wife to Dr. Peter Igoe. She resides in Lockport, New York and again this season will race for the Tom's Pro Bike/Plan2Peak team.
