The overall podium positions of this year's exciting Cobblestone Criterium Twilight Series 2009 will not be decided until the finish line this evening when the leading riders will be making their final bids for glory. Below is a link to the current points standings.
This debut racing series in Buffalo's historic Cobblestone District has proved to be highly competitive and a pleasure for spectators.
In the A-Feature Race, it's Mike Bridges (Shickluna/Brown&Kelly), who has a healthy 27 point lead and will bring home the overall win. The final two podium spots are still up for grabs, however, as Jason Skalski (Handlebars CC), Jay Joslyn (Shickluna), Ken Thomas (Wells Fargo Advisors), and Ryan Nye (MVP Health Care), are all within only 13 points of one another and ride for rival teams. The biggest battle of the night could be between Joslyn and Thomas, who are currently tied for 3rd overall with 21 points each, and who will both be determined to beat the other.
In the B-Race we have an even closer battle, with the top-5 riders all within a mere 16 points. The series had been largely dominated by the Wells Fargo Advisors powerhouse, but with local strongmen Jose Alvergue (Managed Care Network), and Steve Wells (Ingram Micro) currently sitting in 3rd and 4th respectively, the overall title could be stolen from Wells Fargo Advisors with a well timed attack or joint effort. Work together guys, it's go big or go home!
